Portal Knights Wiki:Admin noticeboard

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify Administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

• This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
• Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
• Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
• Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
• Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
• For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Hello i am trying to add a link to the ores and coal sections of the wiki within the copper Pickaxe page. because i am a new user i am unable to add links. Is there a way to amend this.

I realise these are very minor changes, but i do plan on adding alot more in the near future.

Gossamer / Crystal Thread / Magic Fleece Cloth fiasco

TNTDragon, I'm 95% sure you made an incorrect redirect from Gossamer -> Crystal Thread. Gossamer is still in the game as the top-tier cloth after Silk and made with a Workbench 5. And it takes 3 Crystal Thread to make it. I think you meant to rename Magic Fleece Cloth to Gossamer, since they both use the same image.

Yes, I do admit it was an oversight on my part. Gossamer used to be the name of the Crystal Thread in-game, and after they changed it to Crystal Thread I made the redirect. I didn't think they would rename another item to that. Thank you for noting, all is sorted now, I apologize for any issues it may have caused.

Request for additional Information to be added to all island pages

I don't know if this is possible, since all the island levels are listed as random, but is there anyway to indicate how you can warp/travel to the island in question (e.g, access by portal/special event/quest). For newer players to the game, as I was a month ago, I would check the island pages looking for a particular resource or monster (for the drops) and couldn't figure out how to reach the island. Just a thought :)

This person has created a couple pages and edited a few times putting vulgar language on the wiki with no actual info relating to the game.

playing with friends

We are trying to play with friends in private mode but no friends are showing up (even though we are both currently online and currently playing Portal Knights. We used to be able to Join each other but that function is now missing. Can you help.

Sorry for the late response, was on vacation and I'm hoping you found other means of fixing the problem. However for anyone having similar problems in the future, remember that we on this wiki are not game devs and often times are unable to help with in-game bugs. If you're having connection issues with/to friends, the three things you, and your friend(s), can try:

1. Restart game
2. Make sure you're using same game version
3. Restart your internet routers

Alternatively, if your whole game doesn't work anymore at all, you can reinstall it, but be warned that this will remove all of your progress and characters if you don't back up your files

Portal Knights : Wiki : High Interest

Hi, first of all let me introduce myself : I'm JP, an french Canadian. The reason why I'm telling you this is because my english might not be super-perfect.

I'll go straight to the point : It's been year since I did not had interest in a game such as Portal Knights. I used to be an super-hardcore player of EverQuest, World of Warcraft, EverQuest p99, all those hardcore game. I really, really want to push to game foward by participating at making an superb, awesome, clear and pro Wiki.

In other words : I'd like to be an administrator of this page. I'm willing to follow anything to achieve it.

You don't need to be an administrator to help make this Wiki great! Anyone can edit majority of the pages - if you see something's missing on a page or some information is outdated, all you need to do is press the "Edit" button at the top. And if an item doesn't have a page, you can create one for it as well.

Additionally, for the future you can use four tildes (~~~~) to sign yourself across the gamewiki's, leaving a signature like such:

I know about that, but I'm so serious toward the project that I'd like to start from the beginning which mean : Main page. Maybe you can help me? Otherwise, I will buy a domain and do my own "wiki" about that game.

I feel like the game deserve such an awesome, pro database for players. This should allow the game a better visibility, also.

If there is a specific edit you feel would be beneficial on the main page, then suggest it. And while I cannot stop you from creating a separate domain with another game wiki, I will say that it would be an enormous task with the quantity of items, enemies and worlds the game has - majority of which are documented on this wiki.

Now as this is an admin noticeboard, I'd like to ask you to move the conversation to either Main Page Discussion if you have suggestions for edits to the main page, or my talk page (visible in the signature) if you want to discuss why I think creating a separate wiki website is not a good idea.

Question and Main Page Edits Suggested

Hello Admins. I'm new to the game and new to the wiki. I actually have a few questions / points:

First, do you have a style guide for articles or a standard you follow for similar articles? For example, for a given material: Definition / Description section, followed by Source section, followed by Used-in section, followed by History section (if the developers change the names of things in this game, as they do often in other games). I'm a stickler for standards, so that was the first thing I went looking for when I landed on the wiki. If you don't have a style guide or standardized templates, would anyone be open to discussing development? I understand those discussions would happen somewhere other than this noticeboard.

Second, there are several mentions of the various classes found in Portal Knights on the Main Page, which is admin locked. Maybe add the Rogue and Druid classes with a ^(DLC) parenthetical that points to information about the two expansions. Only the Warrior, Mage, and Ranger classes are "featured" on the main page in the "About Portal Knights", "Game Basics", and "Key Features" sections.

Also, just as "nice to have," is there a release history and change log available for the various platforms this game has been published for? I've done a cursory search of the internet and have come up empty, but I'll admit I haven't been thorough. If there is such a thing, maybe change the "Release Date" link to "Release History" on the Main Page and include notable changes under each revision entry.

One final thing (promise), does anyone have an "in" with the developers to discuss game mechanics, suggestions for changes to the game, etc? I know active community members can sometimes bend the ear of the devs when major experience-improvement ideas are identified. I'm not asking anyone to divulge any precious or privileged information, I'm just curious if the developers are responsive to the community via this forum or if you all have experienced better luck interfacing with the devs through some other medium.

Tackling your questions one by one:

While there technically are standards for each type of article (Island/Item/NPC/Enemy/Boss) we do not have a page explaining all of them. The best method is to look at an article for a similar object, and copy its structure, filling the blanks. For materials/items a good section split is: Description, Source (or Crafting Recipe), Crafting Uses (if applicable); with an item box on the side. Have a look at TNT for a decent example. We're omitting a "History" section, because while there are sometimes major changes to items, and especially weapons; the patch notes don't go into detail of every single item change, which makes them hard to track down. (When you notice an item is different after an update, you don't know if it was this update that changed it or a previous one, unless you go through every single one of hundreds of items every single update). If you have ideas regarding a style guide, I'm open to discussions, either on my talk page (which you can find in my signature), or via Discord(which you can find on my User page).

I will look into implementing the two DLC classes within the main page.

There is no release history sadly. You could go back through various steam announcements and try to track major updates down, but I think in the past some minor updates could've went unmentioned, and the patch notes themselves are not always fully descriptive when big changes are implemented. So in the end I'm not sure if a version history is worth the effort.

As to an "in" with the developers, I don't know of anyone that has. There is a community Discord server for Portal Knights, on which the developers used to be present, but have since moved out to the general 505Games Discord, which involves all of their companies titles. This means Portal Knights aren't really a big portion of it - just a small fragment of a much larger whole. In the end the best way to suggest stuff is to wait until a "player survey" comes around, in which they usually ask for "top three things you'd like to see in the game", or a similar question.
